A Beverley taking off from the airstrip at Dhala. As can be seen, with a mountain
at one end, this is a ‘One-way’ airstrip. An overshoot on landing
was not recommended. The Beverley was the only large aircraft to be able to
land at Dhala.

Beverley XM111 of 84 Sqn RAF showing ‘Flower Power’ nose art in
preparation for its flight back from Aden to the UK for scrapping in 1968.
XM111 also served for a while with 30 Sqn RAF.
The Scorpion was 84 Sqn’s symbol.
