Monty was a ‘Blue-Job’ Telegraphist stationed at Butterworth in Malaya during 1967. He was one of the first on the scene when the Twin Pioneer shown below came down in a paddy field shortly after take-off. There were no serious casualties. Two Despatchers were on board from Iskander Troop 55 Sqn, one being Ted Duffy (anyone know where Ted is now?).

Monty has memories of himself and a couple of others running ankle deep through the paddy fields towards the crash and seeing snakes scattering as they raced past.
The cause of the crash was water getting into the fuel cross-feeds. A similar thing happened at Seletar in Singapore, the Twin Pioneer there ending up in the Straits of Johore.
